St. Lucia

St. Lucia

St. Lucia is a mountainous island with stunning scenery, beautiful volcanic beaches, and crystal-clear water. The island’s interior offers fantastic walking and hiking highlighted by rainforests and waterfalls. Sailors can easily spend a week or more exploring St. Lucia. Its central location in the heart of the Windward Islands is also a fantastic starting point for visiting nearby islands, including Martinique, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Moorings charter base is in the Rodney Bay Marina, an up-to-date, world-class IGY marina. The base is about ninety minutes from Hewanorra International Airport, and inter-island flights may land at George F.L. Charles Airport in Castries, only twenty minutes away. The marina is equipped with all the amenities you need to start and end your holiday with a hotel and restaurant, swimming pool, shopping, and supermarket, plus good dining and shopping options on-site and nearby. The marina isn’t far from Signal Peak Park, several beautiful beaches, and the famous Friday Night Street Party in Gros Islet.

Take a trip down the island’s west coast with stops in beautiful yacht-friendly harbours like Marigot Bay, Anse la Raye, and Anse Cochon. You can arrange interior tours and hikes of the falls, rainforests and bird sanctuaries. Most St. Lucia itineraries finish at the Pitons, the best-known symbol of the island. Coral reefs and spectacular diving and snorkelling abound, while the land boasts many natural attractions, including mountains, volcanic fumaroles, and hot springs.

From St. Lucia, you can easily sail to Martinique, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Martinique is a French territory and thus a very different experience from the former British territories of St. Lucia and St. Vincent. Rum distillery tours are a highlight, and you’ll find French dining and culture alongside Caribbean beauty in beaches, reefs and mountainous jungles. St. Vincent and the Grenadines have dozens of beautiful islands, including the Tobago Cays, a diving and snorkelling destination of pristine beauty. Whether you head north or south for a week, you won’t be disappointed.

Dominica and Grenada are also well within reach, with a little more time spent. Dominica offers amazing ecotourism with its mountainous jungles and small population. Grenada is more developed but still has much natural beauty and many things to see and do.

Direct flights to St. Lucia are available from Miami, New York, Boston, Toronto and several other North American cities. Flights also come from the United Kingdom, Germany and France.
