Summer sailing around northern Sardinia is shaped by warm northwesterly breezes, daily land and sea-breeze patterns and short passages between many popular stops. Winds may strengthen considerably in the Strait of Bonifacio. The small tidal range simplifies coastal cruising, but rocky shorelines, protected marine areas and busy peak-season marinas call for thoughtful navigation and advance planning.
